Our club has seen many swimmers pass through its walls and water – from beginners to world champions – and it is an aspect of wellbeing that holds a sacred place at The Baths. Open water swimming is a challenging, rewarding, non-impact form of movement that is also a fun way to build endurance, strength and stamina under the guidance of a professional. Swimming in our historic sea baths is the most sacred of all modes of well being offered at the Brighton Baths Health Club. Established in 2020, our Swimming Squad operates 3 mornings a week under the experienced, dedicated, and precise eye of our coach Mike Gregory. Bringing years of Open Water experience, world record times, and countless famous open-water swims (namely the English Channel and Loch Ness), Mike is a true asset to our squad. Focussing on stroke correction, open water endurance, confidence in the water, breathing technique and cardiovascular fitness, our Swim Squad is a great way to get fit, strong, confident and meet our beautiful swimming community. Private swim lessons and the Swimming Efficiently class with Mike Gregory. Become more confident in the water and in your swimming style with individual, buddy sessions & small group sessions. Mike's experience is extensive, and has a passion for coaching regardless of ability. He has coached and witnessed the success of kids, beginners and multiple-time English Channel swimmers. His expertise and knowledge is not limited to professionals, and he welcomes everyone with his professionalism and genuine love for bringing the best out in each swimmer he works with.
Mike has a way with people, and is so passionate about helping to bring the best out of his clients, friends and fellow swimmers. He offers group squad training at our club as well as one-on-one individual sessions to work with you on your swimming and open-water goals.
After a loooong hiatus (to have my baby girl) I finally jumped back in the water. I quite literally felt the stress of 2020 wash away. Mike’s swim session was incredible. I was greeted with a beaming welcoming smile and felt instantly part of the group. Mike has done everything in swimming from the English Channel to swimming Loch Ness . But you wouldn’t know that when he coaches because he meets you where you’re at, whether it be your first time in open water or a more seasoned swimmer. Brighton Baths provides a very safe training environment with the unique advantage for personal coaching from the platforms surrounding the Baths. Mike‘s ability to teach all levels including my initial basic skill level by adopting simple easy to follow proven training techniques in his classes that allowed me to see huge improvements in a very short period of time.
